Cambridge technology takes Film-goers into space.
Cambridge natives Graeme Ferguson, Bill Shaw and Robert Kerr developed cameras and projectors capable of using 70 mm film … ten times larger than conventional 35 mm film. First used as part of Canada's pavilion at Expo 70 in Osaka Japan, the technology went on to be the centre-piece for Toronto's Cinesphere at Ontario Place. Since 1968, Imax productions have been shot around the world and even into space by NASA astronauts aboard Shuttle flights … while IMAX theatres continue to be build around the globe.
